Hey, thanks CalBar. Really.
I got an email today from some guy at the CalBar telling me my ExamSoft account is now active and I need to go download the software. It was sent specifically to me, and included my account number, so it's not like it was a mass email to the bar takers.
Problem: I'm hand-writing the exam.
Sigh.
Update: My mom's reponse to this is priceless.
"Are you sure you want to be associated with an outfit like the California Bar Association?"

So does this mean the software is free?
And do you get to chose what version (handwritten or computerized) you want for the test (kind of like the GRE)?
It sucks dealing with the bureaucracy. I'm sorry you have to go through all this trouble.
The software itself is free, but there is a fee to use your laptop. $100 I think, possibly more.
If you're handwriting you don't need it at all, since you're not using a computer. You might become familiar with the software next year - a lot of schools have started using it during their exams. It just cuts off access to your hard drive while it's running (so you can't check your outlines/notes or get online).
Well, technically the software is free after you pay your extra $100. Free is relative. This kind of "free" includes the mental strain of "What if my computer craps out during the exam?" as opposed to "Hey, free ice cream! score!"
PS - Heather, you mom kicks ass!
You know what that means, right? Somewhere's there's another Heather continuously refreshing her mailbox waiting for her confirmation...
