The Reveal
Well, whaddya think? I wanted to make my blog a little more unique, with a personal touch. As you might notice, I just altered one of the blogger templates, but I realized about half-way through that it would have been a lot smarter to just make one from scratch. I'm not totally in love with the background color, but I wanted something that went with the photograph in the header, and it turns out that matching real-life colors and RBG colors is near-impossible. Who knew? If you have any suggestions, let me know.
Update: Slight tweaking. I like the background color better itself, but I think it clashes with the banner. I'll have to work on it later, I mean, that's what work hours are for, right??

shell - it's more of a bitch i could ever explain in the comments. the short story is that i used photoshop to crop and save the image to the pixel dimension of the previous header, then saved it to flickr. but that's the easy part. you have to fool around FOREVER with the template code to get it to display correctly. i'm not even sure i did it the "right" way, it just ended up working finally with some combination of things i did. if you're really insterested i can send you an email - but you might get better advice from someone know knows web layout more than i. :)
you can try a "color picker" tool to match the colors exactly. that way you can get your site background color to match any color you want from your sample image. i'm sure you can download one at versiontracker.com

Looks nice, Ms. Esquire! I think it would look better if the background were a little darker, or at least a little less bright blue. Maybe something close to the Blogger bar at the top.

CM - yeah, i agree that it's a little bright, you should have seen how many blues i tried. i'll see if i can find something more muted.
What happened to "With your mom."?
Here's an idea - what if you use an image as your background that's a pattern of the darker blue and the blue from the photo?
ooh, now you're getting tricky on me, CM. do you have any suggestions on how to do that? is there a pattern-making utility in photoshop, perhaps? (i'm at work so i don't have the program here to look at.)
