Kill Me Now

I bought my first Coach bag yesterday. I know, I know.

Some of you, like my two shopping companions, will incredulously say "You're twenty-seven and you've never bought one before? Buy two! Buy three - you have to catch up to the rest of us!"

Some of you, like the niggling voice in the back of my head, are saying, "You materialistic whore. That's an obscene amount of money to pay for a bag."

And then there's my roommate's boyfriend Joe, who, after I'd confessed to what I'd done, confusedly asked, "Coach? Like...with horses and stuff?" (I'm starting to think he's lying about this whole "gay" thing.)

coach is pretty mainstream; it's not really a luxury brand, per se. i really didn't think you were so girly, though.

It's true, I'm not very girly. Normally I'd spend the disposable part of my income on travel or electronics, while wearing out my converse and tees. And not to pick on you personally barb, but I have no plans to, oblivious to reality, start saying things like, "Eh, coach isn't luxury."

Oh, and cg-c, I couldn't find it online, probably because I bought it at their outlet store, but the style and hardware are similar to this one. Except, mine's not calf hair (ew) and it definitely wasn't $1000.

No matter how much money I make I'll never be one of those people who wastes hundreds of dollars on designer crap, but I have owned 3 Coach purses because they last FOREVER. They really are economical when you consider that over the years you will use that one bag, you would have spent even more money on a bunch of $50 purses that have to be replaced in a year or less because they tear, the stitching comes undone, the hardware breaks, etc., especially if you jam them with all the unnecessary junk you insist on carrying around with you the way I do. I think you will be very happy with it!

i'll definitely come out of the bloglurking shadows for this one... i, too, just joined the Bought An (Overpriced) Coach Club. mine was also at an outlet store, and it's actually a clutch as opposed to a bag, but i still felt immense guilt over it.

i think you have the idea down though... as long as this purchase doesn't send you into Coach Utopia, where suddenly everything seems more _affordable_ and perhaps even more _necessary_ ... i'd say you're safe! :)

can't wait to meet you next month.. Coaches in hand!

i have yet to purchase a coach bag. my friend bought me a coach clutch, but no bag. i think i'm holding out for one reason: it means i have arrived and i don't think i have. :)

I've never owned a purse that cost more than $100. I might want to hop on that train...it's a matter of style and durability, more than anything else!
