Chained to my hair dryer

Have you ever been sitting there in your hair dresser's chair and it doesn't seem to be going quite right...then it starts going less right, and then you're trying to non-chalantly point to a chunk of hair so he'll realize there's a problem....then it all suddenly goes very wrong and you're left with bangs? Sigh. He made this big square cut in the layer by my face, then I lost 2 inches while he tried to even it out, and I'm worried that when I curl it tomorrow it's going to become those hideous mini-bangs popular on nymphy hipsters, which means I may be, as the subject notes, chained to my hair dryer for awhile. And I didn't even notice til I got home that he gave me a blunt cut in the back. Jesus. It's not the effing Hair Cuttery over here (or, more importantly, their prices). I need a new salon, asap.

I've been kind of whining about all these weddings I'm slated to go to for the last year, and now that they've arrived I just realized that while the weddings are going on this weekend and next, I'll be missing the exact two weeks the art season officially kicks off. Not the end of the world, but I've been kinda slacking on going to many shows, so I really wanted to dive back in again, plus, you know, they're kind of fun. But I'm definitely missing the whole she-bang, so I'll just have to hit them up on a quiet Saturday afternoon when I get back.

Speaking of which, I'm still terrified that I'm going to totally fuck up my friends wedding photos. It's going to be around sunset when the ceremony is going on and....I think we've all learned by now that I have no idea what I'm doing. I better take some good standing-on-the-lawn shots before the ceremony, that's for sure.

And no, I still haven't heard about the house, but this and points one, two, three and four mentioned above have surely sent me into somewhat of a tizzy this week.

Shoe crisis averted!

Sylvie and I had a tag team session on Zappos this evening and came up with a winner for the shiny dress, especially after I finally realized what color it was: champagne! It's a shiny bubbly alcohol colored dress. And I got these fairly neutral but a little sparkly shoes to go with them.

As for the yellow dress, the internets have spoken. I'll wear my brown peep-toes and return the fancy gold shoes. Y'all are the best. The best! And I'm going to leave those photos up only long enough for the people who commented to see my comments, then I'm deleting those ugly fuckers. One day I'll learn to take pretty pictures. But not today friends. Not today.

Waiting Game

In case you're wondering, I haven't heard about the house yet. Remember it's owned by a bank, it was a three day weekend, and they probably have my offer sitting in a pile of paperwork in the foreclosure office. Sigh.

Shoe crisis

So I magically found the secret gold pot of dresses on Saturday. Of course, I already had a dress, and was actually looking for shoes to go with it. Instead I bought 4 more dresses (I returned one before I left the mall) and found NO SHOES to match ANY OF THEM. Wtf. Something tells me I need to stick with little black dresses that go with little black heels.

I have all these weddings to go to over the next month and the first one is this weekend. I need shoes now! I bought a pair from Zappos that arrived today. They're surprisingly comfortable (I heart Enzo Angiolini), but they only match one of the dresses, and not the one I wanted to wear this weekend. I'm also worried they're much too fancy for the dress. Sylvie convinced me they were the less fancy of the few I'd picked out, but I think I've come to the realization that she's crazy, cause they're all sparkly and it kind of looks like I'm wearing jeweled shoes with a sundress.

I leave it for you to decide. Forgive my shitty ass terrible pictures. I used my point and shoot on High ISO, both of which were a mistake, and I didn't want to do it over once I'd changed and uploaded them. As for the dress/shoe combo, at this point I'm not shooting for "they totally match" so much as, "eh, yeah, they don't clash, per se."

I also have a pair of brown peep-toes which seem more casual, but also more boring, and they also tend to kill my feet when I walk far in them. To be fair, I only wore them once and walked 10 blocks...which, let's be honest, you just ain't supposed to do in heels.

Here's the second dress. I kind of love it, but it's is all these freakish metallic colors that match NOTHING. The dress itself is a silvery-platinum-browny-bronzish, and the leaves are deep wine, bronze, and all kinds of other weird colors. There is silver, light green, light blue, and bronze beading at the empire waistband. I commend the designer for inexplicably putting all these colors together successfully, but I have no idea what I'm supposed to pair with it. You'd think bronze, but shoes come in all shades of bronze, none of which seem to match the dress. I've tried the Enzo shoes on with the dress, but they're much golder than I thought when I saw them online, and definitely don't match. Though naturally, the fancy-ness matches. I can't win.

To make matters worse, the first wedding is the fancier of the two (the second wedding is much more casual -- it's the one I'm photographing!), so I really wanted to wear this second dress this weekend. Fashionistas, tell me what to do, and/or point me to something I can buy online and overnight ship to myself.

Human decency isn't for everyone what I told the girl who cut in front of me in line at Bed Bath and Beyond with 300 thousand items. On the plus side, I made my first purchase for my potential new house! A shower curtain! So exciting!

I actually have a sublettor who moved in yesterday and I realized her bathroom had no curtain, so I figured I'd just go out and buy a nice one I could use when I move, since the one in my bathroom is the landlords. It's very nice. Oh, and the hooks are fancy! Fancy hooks!

See, this is why I needed to start the blog up again. I'm pretty sure I've annoyed family, friends, and strangers alike to death over this house thing. It's high time I gave it a yes/no option button (i.e. read the blog. or don't.)

I got an email from my realtor who confirmed the bank-owner wouldn't get back to me until tomorrow, so that's when the fun will start. In the meantime, I'll be saving some money with my new sublettor, a friend of a friend who needs a place to crash for a few months while her boyfriend's condo is being built. It's a little sad not to have the place to myself anymore, but if it gets annoying I'll just have to remember the couple thousand dollars that will go towards whatever new place I end up in. (I see brand new bathroom tile in my future!)

A more impending decision: It's Monday of a three-day weekend, so -- which marathon am I going to watch on tv today??
